Diesel exhaust systems have become very complex over the years. Late model diesel engines require oxidation catalysts (OC), particulate filters (DPF), and NOx reduction systems (SCR). In this class we will break these three systems down and explain their purpose and function. We will also examine the sensor technology being used as well as how to test the sensors themselves.
